Dumping Dad
My Dad's first death anniversary will be in April, and I'm starting to plan his wished-for "salt water dispersal."
I'm not sure how ceremonial we want to be, although I know it will be a very small gathering and we won't be using any sort of officiant.
Do any of you have experiences, recommendations, prayers, readings, or other great ideas that may be nice for this occasion? Or just your own stories would be nice to hear.

No experience with the procedure, as my Dad had a 'normal' wake/funeral, but I've found that many good "Dad" readings are contained within the book of Sirach, from the Bible (Catholic version - or the Apocrypha, if Protestant.)
My mother, sister, and I scattered my dad's ashes at the ocean, at his request. We didn't do any readings or anything, but were each sort of lost in her own little world, which is very reflective of our relationship after his passing. He was the glue that held others together & without him there is much drift. I found it a very meaningful process for myself. I treasured later photos I had taken that day & ended up framing a couple with one of him at the beach when he was alive.
What was his favorite song/poem/book?
My brother, sister, mother, and I laid my dad's ashes to rest at his favorite bluff in his childhood hometown in South Dakota. It was a beautiful day, and everyone we loved was there. The experience was truly only enhanced by an ill timed gust of wind that blew most of my father onto my Uncle Vern...
