DEAD DAD ART
After yesterday's news stories, I decided to get myself a google alert for "dead dad." There are a few stories here and there, but there was a really interesting one from a few weeks ago. Some guy sculpted a naked, prone, realistic-looking dead dad. And here I thought eeka and I were messed up with the Sanddad.

I'm looking for a quote, something to the effect,"a man is not truly a man until his father dies,"
ANybody know the actual quote, who said it? thanx.
Don't know about the quote, but the dead dad sure looks supine to me. I was actually counting on him being prone to be able to look. Alas...
Argh! He sure is!
Hello. I Came across this website, although im not sure how. I am an artists living and working in East London, and my current artwork is based around the experience of my dad dying in 2003. Its a series of works called "Arc" "Big John Little John" and "john Stuart Carron and John" and they were shown in a solo show called "This Fallen Tree Left Roots in Me". Its based on what i described as my "hysterically logical" approach i took to my dads impending death from Cancer. There are images and press releases here at my website, if your interested... thanks.
John.
PS. The piece called "Big John Little John" is infact two passport photos placed on top of each other, one being obviously of my my dad, the other me, but at 40% transparency (40% was the amount of his lifetime i spent with him ie, I was 22, he was 55 when he died) I cant tell you how weird it is to see the two faces line up some well..
